VMFT-401 “SNIPERs” at MCAS Beuafort

F-5s from the USMC Aggressor Squadron VMFT-401 arrived at MCAS Beaufort yesterday afternoon and have been working in the offshore warning areas with the base’s F/A-18s.  The F-5s have been using their usual callsign SNIPER while the F/A-18s used the callsigns LATCH and SALEM.  I’m not sure which Beaufort squadrons the LATCHes and SALEMs were from but it seemed that they were from VMFA(AW)-533 (normally HAWK) and VMFA(AW)-224 (normally BENGAL).  Whenever the SNIPERs visit, they’re usually here for a couple of weeks so at minimum, they should still be around next week.  If you’ve got a mil-UHF capable scanner, here’s where you can look for them on the radio:
