Special Event Stations to Look For; 8-9 September 2012

This weekend is another cornucopia of Special Event stations of varied subjects.  There might just be something of interest for everyone.  Hunt for these and what I suspect could be more that haven’t been announced.

1-10 September, 0000Z-2359Z, K7T – 85th Anniversary of the Invention of the Electronic TV by Philo T. Farnsworth:  The Utah DX Association will be celebrating the 85th anniversary of the invention of the electronic TV by Philo T. Farnsworth by operating on or near 21.300, 14.250, and 7.240. 3-30 September, 0000Z-2359Z, GB39RC – Ryder Cup:  Dick West (G3VSQ) will be operationg from the Verulam Golf Club in St Albans, Hertfordshire, England during the 4 weeks leading up to this years Ryder Cup in Chicago. The callsign GB39RC will be used because this is the 39th Ryder Cup.  He’ll be on 40/20/15 and 10, modes will be mostly CW and RTTY.  QSL via Dick West, 10 Hawkshill Dr, Hemel Hempstead HP3 0BS, ENGLAND.

7-9 September, 1500Z-0500Z, Various Callsigns – 100th Anniversary of HP Founder David Packard’s (9DVR) Birth:  Various stations will be on the air across the country celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the birth of HP founder David Packard. 7-16 September, 1200Z-2359Z, N1Y – 9/11 Never Forget:  The Symbol Technologies Amateur Radio Club will once again  be operating their 9/11 commemorative special event station to honor the victims of the 9/11 attacks. During each QSO, the name of a victim will be read to honor their memory.  Look for them on 7.090, 14.110, and 21.160. 8-16 September, 0001Z-2359Z, W6A-W6Q, W6S-W6T – 13th Annual Route 66 On The Air:  The Citrus Belt Amateur Radio Club and associated clubs will again be operating their annual Route 66 on the Air special event on or near 21.366, 14.266, 7.266, and 3.866.  The will have 18 stations and 2 rovers on the air across the US.
