Amateur Radio: Special Event Stations to Look For: 29 December – 1 January

Coming between the Christmas and New Years holidays, this holiday weekend doesn’t have many special event stations scheduled, but there are two showing up on the ARRL website.  There might be a few other New Years special event stations planned that haven’t been posted so tune through the bands and check.  If you find any, please post them in the comment sections to this article for others to find!

I know my readers don’t come to my blog for this, but please permit me this rare indulgence…  If you’re going to go out and celebrate the new year on Monday night, please remember if you’ve had too much to drink not to try to drive home.  Plan for a designated driver, call a friend, call a cab, but please don’t drive.  You might just save yourself or someone else.  Please don’t become a statistic.

For more information on special event stations over the weekend, check out Jerry Taylor, KD0BIK’s Practical Amateur Radio Podcast. Each week he presents info on various special event stations that will be active over the coming weekend.  There’s lots of good info in Jerry’s podcasts in addition to the special event station info, give them a listen!
