Amateur Radio: Special Event Stations to Look For; 19/20 January 2013

This weekend looks slim for special event stations; these are the only two I could find searching through the ARRL and QRZ listings:

14-22 Jan, 0000Z-0000Z, N3A – Inauguration of Barack Obama:  The District of Columbia Amateur Radio Society will be operating a special event station on 20 Meters in honor of the Inauguration of the President of the United States on 21 January 2013.  QSL via Eric Rosenberg, 3511 Patterson St NW, Washington, DC 20015.

12-26 Jan, 0000Z-0000Z, W7Q – Quartzfest 2013:  Amateur Radio Operators gathering near Quartzite, AZ during January will be operating a special event station using the callsign W7Q.  QSL via Ward Wheaton – K7PO, PO Box 277, Tonopah, AZ 85354.  For more information see their website:

For more information on special event stations over the weekend, check out Jerry Taylor, KD0BIK’s Practical Amateur Radio Podcast. Each week he presents info on various special event stations that will be active over the coming weekend.  There’s lots of good info in Jerry’s podcasts in addition to the special event station info, give them a listen!
