Amateur Radio: Special Event Stations to Look For; 9/10 February 2013

In addition to this list of special event stations, I would like to remind everyone about the ARRL School Club Roundup coming up this week.  I usually don’t participate in many contests, but I always like to give out a few contacts during the School Club Roundups to help encourage new blood into the amateur radio hobby.  For more information, see the ARRL’s School Club Roundup page with times, suggested operating frequencies, and other rules.

8-28 Feb, 0000Z-0000Z, KB9GSY – In Memory of JY1 The Late King Hussein of Jordan:  Ayman J. Azar – KB9GSY will be operating a special event station throughout the month of February in honor of King Hussein of Jordan.  King Hussein, an avid amateur radio operator, passed away on 7 February 1999. (Note:  As a student of history, I find King Hussein to have been one of the most interesting personalities in the Middle East, frequently finding himself between a rock and a hard place in the Arab-Isreali wars.)  KB9GSY will be operating on the 80-10 Meter amateur bands using CW, SSB, RTTY, and other digital modes.  QSL via Ayman J. Azar, 4421 Clark Ave, Hammond, IN 46327.  Website:
