Charleston, SC Road Trip: North Charleston and American LaFrance Fire Museum

The second alternative to Fort Sumter was the North Charleston and American LaFrance Fire Museum. Located just a bit north of the Patriot’s Point area off of I-26 it wasn’t too far away and I’m very glad I took the opportunity to visit.  They have an excellent collection of vintage fire apparatus with 18 of them on display in well restored condition.  There are also informative displays about firefighting, the history of firefighting, arson, and fire safety as well as fun activities for children (the children visiting really seemed to be having a lot fun, this museum would probably a great family activity).

It became very obvious while taking photos at the Fire Museum that I need to get a better flash for the camera. The built in flash just doesn’t cut it in most cases.  It’s something that I already knew but I’m now motivated to save up for one.
