This isn’t the type of thing I usually write about on this blog, but I stayed up late a few mornings ago reading it and felt that it needed to be shared. “Years of Warning, Then Death and Disaster,” subtitled “How the Navy failed its sailors” is a very damning and depressing report on what allowed the USS McCain and USS Fitzgerald collisions to happen and how there were officers giving the chain of command information and suggestions that could have prevented them from ever happening. The Navy that is described in this article is not the Navy that I grew up around. The Navy in this article is not properly prepared to defend this country and its interests. This article does describe a national security crisis and I’m afraid that the current situation in government is overshadowing it. If it worries you as much as it worries me, bring this article to the attention of your Senators and your Representative.

I'm an Amateur Radio Operator, Radio Monitoring enthusiast, History enthusiast, and very amateur nature/wildlife photography. Most of my amateur radio activity is voice because I mostly operate from a mobile station (listen out for me operating from Jekyll Island, IOTA NA-058). On the radio monitoring side of things, I enjoy listening to military aviation, Fire/EMS, and USCG/Federal comms. My History interests are varied and I enjoy reading about a wide variety of History and visiting historic sites. I take an interest in nature, wildlife, and the environment and particularly enjoy going to the National Wildlife Refuges in my area to take photos. Due to my job, I split time between Savannah and Brunswick, GA View all posts by KF4LMT
