Coastal Georgia Military Monitoring Recap; November 2019

Even though it was a short month because of the Thanksgiving holiday, November 2019 turned out to be a great month for military monitoring in the Savannah and Brunswick areas of Coastal Georgia. The highlight of the month was HMS Queen Elizabeth (R08), one of the United Kingdom Royal Navy’s newest aircraft carriers, and her F-35Bs and Merlin helicopters working off of the South Carolina/Georgia coast with VMX-1 and VMFAT-501 F-35Bs from MCAS Beaufort. Having seen her at Naval Station Mayport in October, it was a terrific experience to get to listen to her aircraft in action. A trip to Augusta also provided an opportunity to listen to the Army TRS sites at Fort Gordon again; the trip was during the weekend, however, so there was not much MilCom activity to be heard.
