MilAir

Coastal Georgia is home to and near to a number of major military bases and training areas; there is military aviation activity of some sort to listen to every day.  Among what you can hear are AH-64s, CH-47s, UH-60s, MC-12s, MH-65s, F/A-18s, F-35s, F-15s, F-16s, C-17s, C-130s, P-8s, and P-3s. Below is a listing of military aviation and aviation frequencies that can be monitored along the Georgia Coast with an emphasis on what can be heard while traveling on I-95.  It is by no means complete, but it does have the most frequently used and heard frequencies.  This list is a good starting point for radio hobbyists just getting interested in military monitoring and for those traveling through the Coastal Georgia area.  Check the main blog page for monthly recaps that list the most currently used callsigns and frequencies. All frequencies are AM unless otherwise noted.

  1. Hi, wanted to say first this is a great page! Alot of useful frequencies. Got one question though; could most of these be monitored from roughly 30 miles west of Jax possibly? I can get Jax activity, but just curious about Moody and Savannah IAP and such. Thanks! 🙂

    • It all depends upon your setup, but Jax, Moody, and the offshore Warning areas should be possible. Townsend Range should be possible but Savannah is probably a stretch. The best I can suggest is program them in and give them a try to see what your range is.

  2. Thank you for the reply! I forgot to mention I was only using a 24″ telescopic on my Icom handheld. Anyhow, I’m receiving most everything around Jax for now. Thanks again 🙂

  3. Mac,

You are are on the top of my list for (just one of the best.)

    Thanks for the post.

  4. callsigns heard for new P8’s ????

    • Take a look at the NAS Jacksonville sections of my monthly Military Monitoring Recap blog posts for P-8A callsigns; the units are using the same callsigns they used when they had P-3s. Sorry – I’m replying from my phone or I’d give a better/more detailed answer. Additionally, I hope to put up a blog post in about a week with which Jax units are equipped with which aircraft and what their callsigns are. Stay tuned…
